And I only say perhaps because I don’t typically go for pecan pie. Not just because I’m a cake fan, but pecan pie tends to be a pile of mushy, cloying sweetness that makes my fillings hurt. While this was sweet, the flavor was incredible. I took one bite of Ann’s piece and knew I had to get my own. It’s from the oldest coffee shop in Savannah, Gallery Espresso.

We couldn’t resist the siren call of the beer or the bacon ice cream at Rehoboth. “Dare ya to try us,” it mocked. Well, don’t let Mr. X-sXe’s grimace fool you. We actually liked both flavors. The beer had a mild, malty goodness. The bacon ice cream was vanilla flecked with tiny pieces of salty bacon. Hey, don’t knock it till you try it, right?
It was almost as good as the bacon rice krispy treats we whipped up over New Year’s!!!
chokladboll close-up
i was torn when i first made chokladboll. i thought it was just okay, but then i let it sit in the fridge overnight, and it got rave reviews at work.
i tried it again and played with the original recipe (which i found here), adding more coffee and butter and tossing in a handful of chocolate chips for good measure.
and this time, i got the appeal.
two other things which I love about chokladboll?
1. it’s got an awesome name, and ends up being much tastier than it sounds.
2. it’s super easy to make with ingredients i typically have on hand. woot! no more long lines https://pievcake.wordpress.com/2008/10/09/chokladboll-close-up/at the subpar safeway!
(also, please note interesting wikipedia entry.)
comics bakery delivers
okay, so i went to spx, and cooked up a storm, and forgot* to take pictures of anything i baked, with one exception:
but there were still some awesomely delicious desserts there, including these made by the fantastic comics bakery guys – marian vitus, thank you!
*by “forgot” i mean that i spilled butter and sugar in the oven, ran out of dessert transport mechanisms, and spent too much time choosing an ironic tee shirt to actually take photos of anything.
